The lesson I decided to address in my PowerPoint project was a very basic introduction for adults who never or used or have been on a computer and who do not understand the extreme basic concepts of a computer. I know that it may seem extremely elementary, but where I live there are a surprisingly large amount of people who still have no idea what the pieces of equipment are that sit in front of them. From past experience with training people at this skill level, I have witnessed many incorrect ideas of what a computer is for and/or how to use it, so I made this slideshow that addresses the fundamental issues.
Sharing, there have been people who thought the CD-Rom was a cup holder, and others who tried to pick up the mouse and physically put it on the monitor and move it around. There are still a large number of people who were not so dramatically computer illiterate but still desperately need guided into the basics from the very beginning. This powerpoint is designated to show what the basic pieces of the computer are, how to use them, and what they do.

This activity most closely relates to the ISTE NETS T Standard 3c:
3. Model Digital Age Work and Learning
Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work
processes representative of an innovative professional
in a global and digital society.
c. Communicate relevant information and ideas
effectively to students, parents, and peers using
a variety of digital age media and formats
This goal is accomplished by learning about the new formats to present PowerPoint lessons with and then utilizing those formats to convey our lesson.
